December 5-6, 2019: Making clinical routine data available for paediatric research: the Swiss approach

We are pleased to announce the international symposium on making clinical routine data available for paediatric research, which will take place on December 5 and 6, 2019 in Bern, Switzerland. It will bring together clinician-researchers from Swiss paediatric hospitals - consultants, specialist registrars, junior clinicians – with researchers and information technology specialists, to discuss the opportunities of data harmonisation in paediatric research.

The project “Harmonizing the collection of health related data and biospecimens in paediatric hospitals throughout Switzerland” aims to make the data collected during routine in- and outpatient care available in real-time for research. It is funded by the Swiss Personalized Health Network (SPHN) and supported by all paediatric teaching hospitals, the Swiss Societies of Paediatrics, Neonatology, Paediatric Surgery, Orthopaedics, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and the Professional Association of Swiss Paediatricians in Practice.

This workshop aims to:

  • Show the progress of the Paediatric SPHN project;
  • Describe similar efforts from other countries;
  • Develop plans for long-term sustainability.

We are excited to announce that one of the keynote speakers will be Professor Christopher B. Forrest, PI of PEDSnet, a large US consortium of children’s hospitals that conducts patient-centered outcomes research in Paediatrics. Other brilliant speakers will join him on the final program.

Further information on speakers, program and exact venue of the workshop will follow – but please do already save the date!
